Private Forest

The home sits on 17.2 acres of mature, thriving forest, with extensive private hiking trails that wander throughout. About 15.9 acres of this land is registered under King County's Public Benefit Rating System (PBRS); under this designation, the homeowner receives an 80% discount on annual property taxes. A detailed Forest Stewardship plan also exists for the property. Should a new owner decide to substantially develop this forestland, the discounted portion of taxes from the previous 7 years would be charged back by King County but until then, homeowners enjoy the combine benefits of reduced property tax, extraordinary privacy and a beautiful forest they can call their own.

Private Beach

The home includes 300 feet of private beach and the skeletal remains of a large concrete and wood boathouse.. It may be possible to build a new boathouse or some other type of waterfront structure within the original footprint, but this has not been verified with King County. The beach is rocky with abundant and healthy wild clams, mussels and oysters, and just a few hundred yards offshore lies a sought-after crabbing area. A sandy "barefoot beach" lies just a few minute's walk to the north, between Winghaven Park and Dolphin Point.

The beach is directly accessible from the house via a private trail.

History

The home has served as a quiet refuge and creative sanctuary for multiple homeowners. Completed in 1992, this home was a personal project of award-winning American architect Robert Hull of Miller Hull Partnership. It was custom built for a Pulitzer Prize winning cartoonist who created many weekly strips and books here, then sold to an investment banker & family returning to the US after a long assignment in Hong Kong, who later sold to a Japanese recording artist that produced a solo album in the former art studio (now the home office).. The current owners raised their daughter and founded three successful businesses during their 20 years in the home.
